United Way

During the past 17 years, J&J Industries' associates have contributed over $2 million to the United Way of Northwest Georgia, the most per capita of any business in the carpet industry. Last year, three out of four associates contributed to the United Way.

Cross Plains Community Partners

Cross Plains Community Partners, a United Way funded agency, has been a provider of quality services for persons with disabilities in Whitfield and Murray counties since 1957. Its mission is to provide employment support and training services that assist persons with disabilities to achieve their personal life goals and an enhanced quality of life. Cross Plains Community Partners supports a total of 156 people: 48 in supported employment (outside work within the community), 51 in day habilitation, outreach and personal supports and 57 in Respite / Family support.

According to Carrie Atkinson, program director at Cross Plains Community Partners, "Our goal is to provide everybody with the skills needed to help them become as independent as possible. With our partners in the community providing jobs, it gives our clients a feeling of self worth and pride. J&J Industries has given us a contract that helps Cross Plains Community Partners as much as it helps J&J. J&J Industries' R4© program, which reuses and recycles carpet samples and architect folders, affords Cross Plains Community Partners the opportunity to work by removing sample swatches from folders so that they may be recycled. This program is done entirely within the Cross Plains center, benefiting the clients that are unable to work outside in the community."
